THIN LIZZY-Vagabonds of the Western

Thin Lizzy is an Irish hard rock band formed in 1969. In those early days the band was led by the charismatic frontman and creative force, Phil Lynott. They had their first hit "Whiskey in the Jar", a re-interpretation of a traditional Irish folk song, in 1973.
From their first eponymous album in 1971 through the 12 albums until 1983's Thunder and Lightning the group established themselves with a string of successful and enduring hits (primarily in the UK and Ireland) including "The Boys Are Back in Town", "Jailbreak" and "Killer On The Loose". Lynott dissolved the band in 1983 in order to concentrate on his solo career, but by 1986 he was dead from heart failure; a result of years of drug abuse.
The band made efforts to reform in 1996 but although there have been live albums and endless compilations, there have been no studio releases. The band continues to tour, but there are still no plans to release a new studio album.
